About John

John studied Civil Engineering with British Rail at Leeds University and gained Chartered membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers with Southern Water, working on the design of river control structures, flood defences and water treatment plants. After two years with a heavy civils and marine contractor, he moved to Celcon as a technical adviser on masonry products. After spells in corporate finance and business development, he eventually became director of a group company, Kingsway Technology, which supplied technical support, machinery design and supply to the Group and licensed technologies in USA and India.

Having run his own consultancy company for two years, covering diverse areas such as timber recycling and prefabricated steel framed housing systems, John joined the Construction Products Association in 2001 as Industry Affairs Director. He is responsible for environmental, technical and regulatory issues including Building Regulations, the Construction Products Directive, CE marking and fire. John represents the products industry on a number of bodies including the European Commission’s Standing Committee on Construction, the Health and Safety Commission’s Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC), BRE Certification, FM Approvals and Robust Details Ltd. He is also a member of the Government’s Building Regulations Advisory Committee (BRAC).
